Jackson Water Crisis
There’s no environmental justice without immigrant justice. Racism, white Christian imperialism, and capitalism - systems that exacerbate global warming - are the root causes of crises like population displacement and the Jackson water crisis. Environmental issues, like those that have plagued Jackson for decades, have an unjust and disproportionate impact on the health and safety of immigrants. Additionally, DHS - an overfunded, rogue arm of the government - was called in to “assist” during the water crisis. This is unacceptable. As stewards of stolen Indigenous land in a majority Black city in the deep south, we must weave these two fights together and provide mutual solidarity - abolish ICE and invest in Jackson.
