Comités populares, or Popular Committees, are groups of concerned citizens that want to make a change in their community, keep their community safe by knowing and defending immigrant rights, and organize the people from their community. “Comité populares” is a grassroots organizing model where leadership is developed, education on social justice and policy issues is used to empower, and organizing is promoted as the main method of moving communities forward.

IAJE supports the work of 6 comités populares: Delta region, Carthage, Laurel, Forest, Morton, Utica, Crystal Springs, and Hazelhurst.
